I had my first ever deep sea diving experience
in Bali 5 years ago. It was the 3rd most
exhilarating thing I’ve ever done.
Meditation + skiing get the first two spots.
I’ve never been deep sea FISHING, however,
and it’s not something that I’m into at all.
I’m going to take an educated guess here
about how fishing works:
You get a rod, put some bait on it and then
swing it out into the lake or river and do your
best to get the first to bite and then reel them in.
If you think about it — you wouldn’t put an entire
chicken on the rod as bait. First, the fish won’t
be able to get to it… but if you imagine a swarm
just coming and grabbing it off you’ll give
the fish it’s food but you’ll never catch the fish, right?
Instead you head down to the market and buy
chicken liver pieces which you put onto the rod
and use to go out fishing.
Let’s look at marketing your business online for a sec.
Naturally, if you’re going to sell a specific product
or service you’re going to need
You’ve got to have some kind of bait (like a free
report, a free MP3, a free webinar, etc) to attract
the right prospects and repel the wrong type.
If you gave away the entire product, book, service,
course or package – people would take that and
you’d not see them again. You’d also attract the
wrong type of subscriber (the freebie hunter).
The most important page for any online business
is actually like a rod with bait that captures the
right kind of prospect and then allows you to make
money by following up and selling to them.
(No killing of fish, thank you very much!)
This type of page is called a landing page. It has
one single purpose – to capture the info of the
visitor so that you can build a relationship with them.
How you set up your landing page is important. It
